Ferrol – Closest City by the Sea

Ferrol is the nearest city to our home, and it offers a bit of everything when we’re looking for a change of pace. It’s known for its naval history, charming old quarter, and beautiful port views—but there’s much more to discover.

Whether you’re after supermarkets, fashion stores, cafés, or historic architecture, Ferrol delivers. The Barrio de la Magdalena is a lovely area to wander through, with grid-style streets, iron balconies, and relaxed tapas spots.

There are cultural venues, including a theatre and galleries, plus seasonal festivals and concerts. You’ll also find large parks, a marina, and easy access to walking routes along the coast.

Ferrol is also where you’ll find all the major shops—everything from homeware to electronics and clothing. It’s ideal for ticking off errands or shopping for something special.

And for families, there’s plenty of entertainment for children. Our two love Poppy Park, a colourful trampoline and soft play centre in nearby Narón. The Odeon complex is another favourite, especially on rainy days—it has a cinema, cafés, and indoor activities perfect for keeping kids happy.

We love heading into Ferrol for a day out or errands that need a bit more than the local towns offer. It’s city living without the crowds—and it’s just a short drive from the house.
