From Southern Spain to Scandinavia—what's drawing people to this quiet corner of the country?
In recent years, more and more people are relocating to Galicia—not just from Madrid, Valencia, or Seville, but from France, Germany, the Netherlands, and beyond. So what's the attraction?
For many, it’s the cooler climate. Summers here are pleasant and mild, with fresh Atlantic air and none of the scorching heat common in southern Spain. That alone is a huge pull for families and retirees looking for a more comfortable lifestyle.
Then there’s the landscape—green hills, wild beaches, forests, and open fields. Galicia feels untouched in the best way, with space to breathe and grow.
It’s also about value for money. Whether you’re buying property or shopping for your weekly groceries, life here is more affordable than most parts of Spain and much of Europe.
For us, it was about a slower pace of life. We wanted space, nature, and community—and we found all three. We’ve met people who came here to work remotely, raise children, retire peacefully, or simply live closer to nature.
Galicia isn’t just a place to move to—it’s a place to stay. And it’s easy to see why more people are choosing to do just that.
