A small, alternative-style school just 13 minutes away.

Our children go to Villarrube School, a small and beautiful rural primary school just 13 minutes from our home.

Villarrube embraces a more flexible and holistic approach to education. While it’s part of the public system, it doesn’t follow all the same rigid structures and testing routines as bigger schools. There’s a clear influence from Steiner/Waldorf-style learning, with a focus on creativity, connection to nature, and child-led learning.

It’s a close-knit community where children from ages 3 to 8 are encouraged to explore, play, and learn in a fun and nurturing space. Both of our children attend, and we’ve loved how they’ve grown there—socially, emotionally, and academically. The teachers are absolutely wonderful!

If you're looking to raise a family in Galicia, having a school like Villarrube nearby is a real gift.
